How to Make Flor de Jamaica Iced Tea You'll Want to Make Again

Looking for an iced tea with a little more flavor? Flor de Jamaica brings hibiscus and strawberry to your glass, with ginger and a light sweetness from stevia leaf.

To make our blend iced, steep 2 teaspoons in hot water for 3–5 minutes, strain, and pour over ice. For a stronger infusion, use the 7–10 minute steep. Here's how to find the cup you enjoy.

Get to know this Flor de Jamaica blend

Flor de Jamaica is the name of our hibiscus and strawberry loose-leaf blend. It includes hibiscus, strawberry, ginger, and stevia leaf, and is naturally caffeine-free. This guide is for the Aeon Teä blend; recipes made with plain dried hibiscus may use different amounts and methods.

What you need

  • 2 teaspoons of Aeon Teä Flor de Jamaica
  • Hot water
  • A heat-safe mug or brewing vessel
  • An infuser or fine strainer
  • Ice and a glass suitable for serving your tea
  • A timer

Follow the preparation directions for your blend and equipment. The steps below focus on tea amount and steeping time; adjust water and ice to the cup you are making and the strength you enjoy.

How to make it

  1. Measure: Add 2 teaspoons of Flor de Jamaica to your infuser or brewing vessel.
  2. Steep: Add hot water and steep for 3–5 minutes. For a stronger infusion, steep for 7–10 minutes.
  3. Strain: Remove the infuser or pour the brewed tea through a fine strainer.
  4. Serve: Pour over ice in a glass suitable for the temperature of your tea. Allow the tea to cool first if your glass is not suitable for hot liquids.
  5. Taste: Enjoy the blend as it is before deciding whether to adjust your next cup.

Find the strength you enjoy

For a lighter infusion, begin with the 3–5 minute steep. For more intensity, use the 7–10 minute option. Ice dilutes the brew as it melts, so keep your amount of ice consistent while you compare different steeping times.

If the finished cup feels too strong, add a little water to suit your taste. If it feels too light, try the longer recommended steep next time. Change one variable at a time rather than changing tea amount, water, and timing together.

Does it need sugar?

This blend already contains stevia leaf, which contributes a touch of sweetness. Taste it before adding a sweetener. Your preference is what matters; we do not describe this blend as an unsweetened plain hibiscus tea.

Hot or iced? You can have either.

Flor de Jamaica is also lovely warm. For an iced cup, brew and strain before adding ice. If loose leaf is new to you, our guide to brewing tea with a strainer, infuser, or French press will help you get started.
